Tutoring is a great way to spend time with a child in your community. Your contribution of time and energy will help a student do better in school and feel better about her/himself.
We have developed guidelines for volunteer tutors that outline our needs and expectations. These guidelines will also help you decide if the Five Points Tutoring Program is right for you.
Guidelines:
Reliability
The Volunteer Manager will set a specific time and place for your tutoring sessions. We request 24 hours notice if you cannot attend your tutoring session.
Consistency
To be an effective tutor, you must show up for every tutoring session on time and ready to work. Your student will learn best if her/his tutor is available on a regular schedule.
Supervision
Tutors are supervised by the Volunteer Manager and Program Manager at each tutoring site. Supervisors keep an official record of your volunteer hours and can answer questions about your tutoring experience.
